Whats Going On @ Our Club - Issue 1/16

Hello Everyone and welcome to the first Newsletter of the 2016 Season. Well our opening day is approaching fast and I for one cannot wait to get back onto the Green. Our new committee has been working very hard over the winter months to ensure that we have a season packed with games and social days. Please support as much as you can. We will not be having a subs night this year, instead I will be at the club from 10.30 on Opening Day to collect your form and funds. See you soon - Charlotte.

Tony Goucher - Men's Captain

I hope that you have all wintered well, it is not long to wait now for the new outdoor season to start. I would first like to start by welcoming you to your new team. We have Martin Hayes taking over as Vice Captain and Peter Wood as Deputy Vice Captain and yes you've all got to put up with me again as your Captain. I hope that we can count on all of your support throughout the up and coming season again. We have a busy start to the season, we kick off on Saturday 23rd April with our Opening Day which will be run by Mike and Inger, this is always a fun day so please support us, the more names the merrier. The following weekend is also very busy so we will need all of your support to fill these matches. The sheets will be up at the club about two weeks in advance of the games so make sure you get your names down as soon as possible please. One small point:- We will be enforcing the Club Rule that after a match you sit down for the meal (home and away) in your bowls attire. Either your clubshirt or a white shirt/tie with white or grey below the waist. Both myself and Martin Hayes have become level one coaches, and will be helping Charlotte with the recruitment weekend and your assistance will also be greatly appreciated, but I will let Charlotte tell you more about this. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Tony Goucher Thanks Tony

Green & Surrounds - Working Parties

Nothing happens within the club without volunteers and hard work. With this in mind we are looking for help to get the Green and the Surrounds ready for our Season. Our Working Party Days are on Saturday 16th April Sunday 17th April and Friday 22 April. Please check the notice boards or contact Mike Newman for more details.

Members Roll Ups -

Due to the popularity of the Monday Roll Up we have been asked for more! So this year there will be a second roll up on Fridays. Mondays will still be run by David Oliver and for this there will be a £1 charge that will go towards prizes at the end of the season. The Friday roll up will be run by Peter Wood and will be just for fun. The start times for both will be 11am (report by 10.45).

Recruitment

We are holding another Recruitment Drive for the Outdoor Section on the following days 29th April 3-8pm Saturday 30th April 10.30-3pm Sunday 1st May 10.30-3pm I will be putting up a list for helpers and would hope to see most of you at some stage over the weekend. We have 4000 leaflets that we need distributed in and around Egham. I will have these on Opening Day and am hoping that you will all turn up early enough to do an hour or more walking around posting them through letter boxes before the game starts. If you cannot help on that day then please take some for delivery that week.

Our Afternoon Club Matches The Committee have by necessity reduced the number of Ladies afternoon club matches. However we still have about 8 midweek afternoon matches but these will be mixed. We have also entered a new league which is played on Thursday afternoons. This league is an over 55's Open (both men and ladies) Triples League. For those of you that like to play midweek the club also enters a Tuesday over 55 Mens league. Please keep your eyes peeled on the notice boards for these match sheets.

Club Shirts

If you need a New Club Shirt or a Club Fleece please contact Pam Garden early in the season so that an order can be placed
